Hello everyone,
This year we are celebrating a very different sort of Easter season. No attending masses. No gatherings. No family.
Needless to say, I know this will be a memorable year for us, as well as many other families.
Tharin and I are determined to make it as special as possible at home. We are incorporating our regular traditions for this season, along with a few new ones. I really believe in creating traditions that surround our seasons and holidays, building on a strong family culture.
As Catholics, our primary concern is really connecting the celebration of Easter with our faith, as we truly believe this is the reason to celebrate. One of the best ways to do this is by retelling the Easter story in different ways.
If you are here for the Easter Story Stones, just scroll down to the form below.
Easter Story retelling:
- This year, I purchased the book Vinegar Boy for the kids and I to read aloud together. Some parts of it are a little advanced for the boys, but for the most part, I have loved the deep conversations and reflection that this chapter book has encouraged. I love this book so much, in fact, that I plan on rereading this book every Lent with the children.
- And of course, in our seasonal book bin we have picture books, our favourites being The Tale of the Three Trees, Usborne Easter Story sticker book, and this wonderful resource, The World Jesus Knew.
- For the children to really interact with the Easter story, we have a few peg dolls, as well as a wooden tomb my husband created for us this year.
- And lastly, we have a few Christian programs the kids are allowed to watch at this time of year to correspond with the events of that day. Last weekend they watched a Palm Sunday retelling, as well as the Prince of Egypt to help them understand about the Passover.
- Along with this play, I created a Easter Story Stone material for the kids to get more familiar with the story, and am offering it as a free printable for my email subscribers, just fill in the form below and you will get it to your inbox.
I would love the Easter Story Stone Printable please and thank you.
ReplyDeleteSorry for taking ages to respond, did you sign up for the freebie library? You should get an email with the password in it when you out your email address in the form. It seems to be working as far as I can see, but I'm definitely not the most tech savvy blogger out there...

ReplyDeleteSame here! I’ve clicked subscribe multiple times and it doesn’t seem to be going through. I’m going to try another web server and see if that helps.
DeleteMy email list through the original server expired, so I need to figure out how to fix it. I’m so sorry about that. I’m not very tech savvy at all.
