Montessori Toddler - Works at Two-Years-Old

Tharin built a beautiful shelf in our schoolroom and I have been filling it up with work for the kids. As I observe our toddler and what he is drawn to at almost two years old, I thought I would write up a quick blog post sharing his favourites.

Using Narrative in the Montessori Three Part Lesson

Last week I wrote about how to use the Montessori three part lesson to teach anything, and I shared a picture on Instagram of my son and I working with numbers.

Because he is having difficulty retaining information about his numbers, I decided to really dial in on the benefits of the Montessori three part lesson, and dig into only two numbers at a time.

How to Use the Montessori Three Part Lesson to Teach Anything

I have had a few people ask me how I taught our oldest his letters, so I have promised to write a post on the Montessori three-part lesson. He learned his letters so gradually and so painlessly, and with such a firm grasp. It was honestly magical to watch, and has made me a firm believer in the Montessori three-part lesson.

First of all, I started giving our son lessons on his letters when he started showing interest. He would ask me about letters he saw, bring me alphabet books to read, and was so excited to pick up his letter work as soon as I provided it for him, which were all sure signs that he was ready.
