Montessori Practical Life: Egg Salad Sandwiches

For this Friday practical life collection, the boys both had the opportunity to help with a lunch which we all enjoyed together, adding a community dynamic to an already wonderful activity.

As I mentioned last week, Benedict is ready to be included in more of our practical life work, so this week I made sure to find tasks for him alongside his brother.

His concentration and pride was so absolutely worth it. Seriously, it is so easy to forget how capable and big our littles get so quickly.

{Here Jerome is gathering the necessary materials and exploring the new egg slicer we purchased recently, beside his brother, hard at work.}

{Benedict deep in concentration peeling the eggs all by himself, a task he was very proud to be in charge of.}

{Slicing the eggs with the egg slicer, a very satisfying tool for my hands-on child.}

{Placing the pieces of egg in the bowl}

{Scooping mayonnaise all by himself}

{Both boys had the chance to use our pepper mill. I wish I could have captured the look of glee on Benedict's face afterward.}

{Spreading the egg salad mixture on the bread he had previously placed on his plate}

{Cutting his sandwich, a challenging task which he ended up needing help with}

There is always the composting and placing the dishes alongside the sink, which both boys help with, and then they each carry their own dish to the table. Not always easy (or very photogenic) to get pictures of these parts.

Hope you had a fantastic week and I thank you for following along with my new segment. For more of my practical life collections check out: Baking Biscuits | Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
